Mr Lam

AWWA has empowered Mr Lam with a renewed sense of independence, belonging, and purpose.

A car mechanic for most of his life, Mr Lam spent his working years supporting his 10 younger siblings. After he was forced to retire, the bachelor lived simply in a rented room until his landlord passed away, leaving him homeless. With little savings to fall back on, Mr Lam found himself helpless and adrift.

He was connected with AWWA, a non-profit organisation supported by Community Chest. Today, he resides at AWWA’s Senior Community Home (SCH), which provides much more than a roof over his head. AWWA SCH has given him a community filled with warmth and laughter. He treasures the companionship of volunteers and enjoys participating in activities. More importantly, AWWA has restored his sense of independence, belonging, and purpose, helping Mr Lam embrace this new chapter of life with dignity.
