Youth Day Appeal

Giving is for everyone – all of us can contribute in one way or another within our means.

Youth Day Appeal 2023

Since 1984, Youth Day Appeal has served as an annual fundraising campaign to advocate giving amongst the young and rally meaningful support for communities in need. Aligned with the Ministry of Education’s Values-in-Action Programme, this campaign encourages secondary school and junior college students to help others and inculcate important values of compassion, respect and empathy from an early age.

100% of funds raised through Youth Day Appeal go towards empowering the lives of adults with disabilities, children with special needs and youth-at-risk, families in need of assistance, persons with mental health conditions and seniors in need of support.

2023 marks 40 years of Community Chest working with the people, private and public sectors to explore ways to make giving a way of living. As social service needs become more complex, we endeavour to create impactful partnerships to deepen sustainable giving and champion the potential of those we aim to support. Together, we can empower every person to live with dignity in a caring and inclusive society.

About Faye

Faye has never let her physical limitations stop her. GROW ensures that her journey through life remains a fulfilling one.

Born with athetoid cerebral palsy, Faye has never let her physical limitations deter her from living a fulfilling life.

Faye is a boccia player and was part of Team Singapore Boccia that clinched a silver medal at the 2018 Asian Para Games.

In 2018, Faye joined the Goodwill, Rehabilitation & Occupational Workshop (GROW) at Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore, a social service agency supported by Community Chest. Through GROW, Faye has been involved in a variety of assignments that enable her to earn a monthly allowance. Some of the assignments she has been involved in include box folding, towel folding and basic packing. The best part of work for Faye is the friends she interacts with.

Besides acquiring vocational skills and social skills, the workshop has also taught Faye, who is non-verbal, to communicate through augmentative and alternative communication using an iPad. Since joining the workshop, Faye has grown to be more confident and independent. She hopes that one day, she will be able to travel to work on her own.

Community Chest supports more than 100 social service agencies in Singapore, allowing them to focus on caring for the individuals in need of support. Find out more about the five causes supported by Community Chest.

River Valley High School

River Valley High School

River Valley High School has had a longstanding partnership with Youth Day Appeal. Through the collaboration, our students are motivated to give in monetary donations or volunteering work to the less privileged communities. We appreciate Youth Day Appeal’s approach, which is well aligned with our school’s direction, in developing our students to be concerned citizens and future leaders who are active contributors to the community. It is especially meaningful that our students are provided the opportunities to learn about and better empathise with Community Chest service users from various community groups in Singapore including adults with disabilities, children with special needs and youth-at-risk, families in need of assistance, persons with mental health conditions, and seniors in need of support. We look forward to a sustained partnership with Youth Day Appeal!

Dunman High School

Duman High School

Youth Day Appeal resonates with Dunman High School’s mission of Care, Serve and Lead.

The school inculcates in all Dunmanians the importance of showing care for the community, serving to better the lives of others, and in time exercise leadership as community changemakers.

Complementary to our school’s Values In Action efforts, we believe that Youth Day Appeal nurtures socially responsible students who are able to contribute meaningfully to the community.

We see that Youth Day Appeal brings out the best in our Dunmanians in the spirit of giving and sharing.
