"We always see our staff beyond their disabilities, and focus on their talents. Our team members felt more welcomed and hence increased their employee engagement level."
- Mr Wong Keng Fye, Head of Human Capital, Maybank Singapore
Together with co-organiser, Orchard Road Business Association, main sponsor, Hitachi Group of Companies in Singapore, supportive partners, inclusive employers and their differently-abled employees, Guest-of-Honour President Halimah Yacob and Host A/P Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development, officially ushered in the season of festive cheer at the Community Chest Christmas on A Great Street Light-Up Ceremony, on 16 November at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza.
In FY2018, we supported 33 social service programmes that promoted inclusive hiring, that empowered many of our social service users to fulfil their potential and lead independent lives. This year, we are pleased to announce that more employers in Singapore have joined Community Chest to help every person live with dignity in an inclusive community. Some key inclusive employers who have looked beyond their employees’ disabilities include Edible Garden City, Han’s and Maybank Singapore.
This celebration of different abilities and forms of giving back by social service users displayed inclusivity in various ways. Youths, volunteers and staff of Singapore Association for Persons with Mental Health (SAMH) YouthReach performed a beloved Christmas tune on cajons while students from APSN Chaoyang School joined forces with students from Presbyterian High School to put on an energetic hip-hop dance performance.
