As we celebrate Father’s Day, let us remember that a little care and support can go a long way towards empowering someone to lead a life of dignity, including the vulnerable and those in need.
Mr Simon Khushiram, suffered a stroke when he was 50 years old and became paralysed on one side of his body. He continued to experience a gradual decline in mobility, and the once active father of two started to feel anxious that he had lost the freedom of full mobility and could not contribute more to the family as much as he wants to.
Simon’s sons saw the struggle and helped to find support through Bizlink, which helped to engage Simon in suitable vocational efforts and expanded his social network with other persons with disabilities. Simon soon regained hope and is now an active advocate of acquired disability awareness.
Simon’s sons, Sham and Sunil, have also become fathers and they understand how a father wants the best for his family. Simon is also thankful that his sons never gave up on him. Today, Simon, Sham and Sunil celebrate Father’s Day together.
