Stiven is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and has been attending MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School (MINDS LGS) since 2018. He used to be a reserved student, and due to difficulties in verbal communication, he preferred pointing over verbalising his thoughts.
Since attending MINDS LGS, he has been expressing his ideas and making requests clearly and confidently. His typing skills have also progressed significantly with increased speed and accuracy. He enjoys doodling too and has taken his passion to the next level by converting his hand-drawn art pieces into digital art.
With the support of Community Chest, Stiven now attends the junior level programme at MINDS LGS. The programme strives to instil self-confidence, independence and equip him with the necessary social skills and academic knowledge to prepare them for the vocational programmes at the senior level.
Children’s Day Appeal
Children’s Day Appeal (CDA) is an annual nationwide fundraising campaign by Community Chest which rallies students from primary schools to donate and help the less fortunate in the community.
In line with MOE's Values-in-Action Programme, CDA seeks to instil values such as respect, care and harmony among students, while providing them an avenue to put such values into actions, where we build the next generation of givers who see beyond the disabilities of our social service users. Through this campaign, we hope that students can play a part in making an impact within the community to build a caring and inclusive society for all.
100% of the donations raised in the appeal will go towards empowering the lives of our social service users, such as Stiven, from more than 80 social service agencies supported by Community Chest.
